TERSAN SHIPYARD BEGINS EXTENSIVE RECONSTRUCTION OF NEXT GENERATION KRILL FISHING VESSEL FOR AKER QRILL COMPANY.

15.05.2025

Tersan Shipyard proudly announces the commencement of extensive reconstruction operations for a next-generation krill fishing vessel, marking a new phase in its commitment to cutting-edge shipbuilding and sustainable maritime solutions. With the vessel now successfully brought ashore, comprehensive revisions have begun, solidifying Tersan Shipyard’s role as an industry leader in delivering advanced and tailored maritime technologies. Initially contracted with Westcon Shipyard, it was originally planned for delivery to Rimfrost AS, the end user. However, contractual disputes between Westcon and Rimfrost in 2023 led to the cancellation of the agreement. Subsequently, Tersan Shipyard entered into a new agreement with Aker QRILL Company (formerly Aker BioMarine Antarctic AS), ensuring the conversion of the vessel under a new vision.

Now, as the reconstruction process officially begins, the vessel is undergoing extensive modifications to align with Aker QRILL Company's specialized operational requirements, including a significant 25-meter extension, advanced technological integrations, and sustainability-driven customizations. These enhancements will redefine efficiency in krill harvesting operations, ensuring compliance with Norwegian fishing regulations while reinforcing sustainable feed production and marine-based nutrition. As part of the vessel extension process, the vessel has been successfully hauled ashore via a floating dock and self-propelled modular transporters. The cutting phase for the extension has now been completed, marking a significant milestone in the transformation process.

Beyond its physical transformation, the partnership between Tersan Shipyard and Aker QRILL Company also reinforces strong industry collaborations, ensuring the vessel meets the highest standards of operational excellence and environmental responsibility.
