TERSAN SHIPYARD HOLD STEEL CUTTING CEREMONY FOR NEXT GENERATION CABLE LAYING VESSEL NB1139

5.06.2026

Tersan Shipyard marked a major milestone with the steel cutting ceremony for next-generation Cable Laying Vessel NB1139 under construction for LS Marine Solution. The ceremony, attended by senior executives from LS Cable & System, LS Marine Solution, and Tersan Shipyard, signals the official start of full-scale production following the shipbuilding contract concluded between the two parties last year. The event marks a significant transition from design and planning into the construction phase of one of the most strategically important newbuilding projects in the Asia-Pacific submarine cable sector. Designed by Norway's Salt Ship Design, the vessel will be capable of installing High Voltage AC and DC power cables as well as fiber optic cables across a wide range of complex offshore campaigns.

She will measure 148.4 meters in length and 31 meters in breadth and 13,000 tons carousel capacity. Industry observers note that the vessel's flexibility positions LSMS to capture growing demand from offshore wind, transmission grid build-out, and offshore platform electrification three of the fastest-expanding segments in the global energy transition.

Upon delivery, the new vessel is expected to reinforce LSMS's standing as one of the leading submarine cable installation contractors in the Asia-Pacific region, with enhanced capacity to serve customers worldwide. The vessel has been engineered with sustainability and energy efficiency as foundational design principles, in line with the maritime industry's accelerating shift toward low-carbon operations.
